Electronics technician for industrial engineering

Electronics technicians in the field of industrial engineering professionally install electrical components and plants. They maintain them regularly, expand or modernise them and repair them in the case of a malfunction. They install cable routing systems, energy and communications lines as well as the electrical equipment for machines whilst using the appropriate automation systems. In addition, they program, configure and test the systems and safety devices, hand over the plants and monitor the work carried out by service providers and other trades. Electronics technicians for industrial engineering are qualified electricians in accordance with the accident prevention regulations.

An electronics technician for industrial engineering is a recognised occupation that requires training as set out in the German Vocational Training Act (BBiG). The period of training is 3.5 years.
